Purpose – Islamic education has a strong foundation rooted in the Qur'an and the Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad Saw. However, the implementation of educational values in practice is often neglected, as many modern education systems emphasize academic achievement while overlooking character development. Jami' Al-Ulum wa Al-Hikam by Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali provides profound guidance on Islamic educational values. This study aims to analyze the educational values in the Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad Saw found in Jami' Al-Ulum wa Al-Hikam and to understand Ibn Rajab's thoughts on Islamic education.
Design/methods/approach–This research adopts a library research approach by analyzing the book Jami' Al-Ulum wa Al-Hikam and secondary references, such as books on Islamic education. Data collection techniques involve examining relevant Hadiths on education, ethics, etiquette, and social responsibility and linking them to Ibn Rajab's perspectives.
Findings–The study reveals that, according to Ibn Rajab, Islamic education is a holistic system encompassing the teaching of knowledge, the cultivation of morals, proper etiquette in seeking knowledge, and instilling social responsibility. Education focuses not only on increasing knowledge but also on character development and contributing to society.
Research implications/limitations – This research provides insights into how Islamic education based on the Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) can be applied to contemporary educational systems to produce individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also morally upright and socially responsible.
Originality/value–This research contributes to the development of Islamic education theories, particularly concerning the integration of knowledge and ethics. It offers a more comprehensive perspective on understanding Islamic education as a tool to shape balanced individuals who can benefit society.
