Abstract

The story of the Qur'an has many meanings and lessons. The story of the Qur'an is a story that aims to give advice and lessons because the purpose of the Qur'an was revealed by Allah to be a warner, guide and lesson. Understanding the story of the Qur'an for the benefit of character education is important, because character education is a national education policy. Therefore, this research will look for character education values in the story of Prophet Moses and the Children of Israel in the Quran. The formulation of this research problem includes: (1) How is the concept of the Children of Israel in the Quran? (2) How is character education in the story of Prophet Moses and the Children of Israel? (3) What are the character values in the story of Prophet Moses and the Children of Israel?   This research paradigm uses the Interpretive paradigm.  This research uses a qualitative approach. The type of research is content analysis. The data source is Al-A'raf verse: 103 - 171. Data analysis technique uses Heiddeger's hermeneutic theory. Research results: The Children of Israel are told a lot in the Qur'an, this is intended as an example of taking wisdom and lessons. Bani Israel in the Qur'an is one of the tribes that is used as an example for lessons for other tribes. The theory of character education in the story has 3 main things, the first is guidance or treatise, the second is punishment and the third is reward. Guidelines are treatises that contain guidance and wisdom. This guideline becomes a guideline guide when getting punishment and reward. When punishment or reward is addressed in accordance with the guidelines, it will produce a good attitude and if done continuously, noble morals will be formed. The story of the Children of Israel in Surah Al'Araf verses 103 to 170 has character values including: character values of patience, obedience, holding fast, knowledge, not arrogant.
