The Dynamics of Romantic Relationships Among Elementary School Adolescents, Social Media, and Digital Parenting as a Solution

Abstract

Currently, we are in an era of globalization, where technological developments are accelerating rapidly and becoming increasingly sophisticated. The sophistication of this technology cannot be separated from one component, namely the internet. The internet has now become a figure whose presence cannot be separated from all aspects of human life, including the educational aspect, one of which is. Part of the global internet is social media which, directly or indirectly, certainly has a significant influence on all groups, including adults, young people and even small children. Especially for teenagers, social media has become a deadly virus that eats away at them and even makes them consume it like a staple food. One of the impacts of social media is demoralization in terms of social behavior related to romantic relationships among elementary school teenagers. Because of this, there is a need for education and cooperation between teachers and parents to provide full guidance and monitoring in using social media so that the negative impacts can be minimized and the positive impacts can be maximized.  In the context of its relationship with personality, intelligence and ethics. The aim of this research is to determine the positive or negative impact of using social media on adolescent behavior as well as solutions to deal with or overcome it. To understand this problem further, researchers used qualitative methods (library study) using various reading sources related to research title. So it is hoped that the results of this qualitative research will be in the form of broader & deeper knowledge regarding the impact of social media and also related solutions to the rampant behavior of elementary school teenagers, namely in terms of romantic relationships.
