Analysis of Sokhaudin Nasution's Thought in Arabic Linguistics

Abstrak

Purpose –Arabic holds a significant position as the language of religion and Islamic culture, yet it faces globalization challenges that demand adaptation to remain relevant. This study aims to analyze Sokhaudin Nasution's thoughts on Arabic linguistics, focusing on the integration of classical and modern theories and their application in Arabic language teaching. Design/methods/approach–The research employed a library research method with descriptive-analytical analysis of Sokhaudin's works and supporting literature.  Findings–The findings reveal that Sokhaudin Nasution successfully integrated traditional Arabic grammar with modern concepts such as pragmatics, semantics, and discourse analysis. He also developed technology-based teaching methods to support more effective and applicable Arabic language learning. These findings emphasize the importance of contextual and adaptive approaches to address globalization challenges while demonstrating that Arabic linguistics can evolve without losing its traditional roots. Research implications /limitations – This research is limited to analyzing selected works of Sokhaudin Nasution, indicating the need for further studies to explore other aspects of his thought. Originality/value– The originality of this research lies in uncovering Sokhaudin's unique approach to bridging classical and modern Arabic linguistics while offering innovative solutions for teaching Arabic in the digital era.
